Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ,
The Christian Education Department of HICC takes this moment to say Thank You, from our hearts to yours for your patience, commitment, and dedication to learning and growing through Christian Education. Your continued participation is deeply appreciated. We are continuously working to make sure your virtual class experiences are inspirational, informative, enlighten and enjoyable. We have prepared some NEW and exciting course offerings for the Fall/Winter 2021-2022 term that we would like to share with you.
We will launch into a NEW Study entitled “Gifts: The Joy of Serving” by John Ortberg, Laurie Pederson, and Judson Poling. Students will have the opportunity to study and explore biblical based ways to think about and experience their life with God. “Through personal study and small group interaction, this study will help you develop a passion to be used by God. You’ll find out about your unique place in the Body of Christ and how to surmount the obstacles that keep you from thriving. You’ll discover the joy of serving with others-doing together what you can not do alone. And you’ll learn how to abide in Christ, experiencing a freshness and vitality that grow as you give!” This NEW and exciting class will be offered four times throughout the week. Instructors for this class include Sis. Denise Gordon; Sis. Betty Clark; Sis. Alicia Turnage and Sis. Sabrina Copeland; Sis. Cellie French and Debra Pearson.
NEW to the HICC Christian Education Department is series study entitled:
“Called to be an Intercessor: Developing and Enhancing your prayer life to Stand in the Gap.”
Participants in this class will learn from biblical intercessors how to and why we intercede. You will explore the law of prayer and intercession and learn the five traits of an effective intercessor, as well as the connection between prayer and worship. The text for this class will be the Holy Bible as well as
“Five Effective Traits of an Effective Intercessor”
“The Law of Prayer and Intercession,”
“The Ministry of the Harp and Bowl” written by Bishop William H. Murphy Jr.
While this study is required for all Intercessory Prayer ministry members, this class is open for anyone to join. This study will be offered under the instruction of Elder Fred Walker.
We will also continue to offer the Study entitled
“Proverbs” by Warren W. Wiersbe.
Students will have the opportunity to study the Book of Proverbs where the wise King Solomon shares the kind of wisdom that you need to be skillful in having a “Fully-Filled Life”. Participants will dive into topic such as:
“What Wisdom Is and Where to Find It”
“How to Choose the Right Path of Life”
“What Happens When You Choose the Wrong Path”
“How to Make the Best Use of Time and Money”
“How to Make and Keep the Right Kind of Friends”; and
“How to Build a Happy Marriage and Successful Home”.
According to Wiersbe, many "success manuals" are available today, but none can compare with the Book of Proverbs, God's inspired guidebook for a fulfilled life. This NEW and exciting class has two class study options.
Instructors for this class include:
MIT Linda Jackson and Sis. Carolyn Davis-Robinson and Dir. Learna Brewer-Baker.
The HICC Christian Education Department will continue to offer our Virtual Women and Men’s Monthly Book Clubs. Under the guidance of Dr. Kanesha Kirkwood and Minister Rodriguez Gray students will have the opportunity to relax and meet on a once monthly basis for a Book Club Experience.
Participants, within an informal virtual setting, will engage in fellowship, build new relationships within the Body of Christ, share, and gain new thought-provoking perspectives, laugh, and have fun all while leisurely reading. Our next book club selection is “Don’t Drop the Mic” by T.D. Jakes. We encourage everyone to join a book club in addition to your regular Christian education class.
Now that you are up to date on all our NEW course offerings, we implore you to continue to grow in grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Also, invite a friend and/or family member to study with you.
